Pearson renders support to children of Covid-19 medical workers with special scholarship partnering with CCTF

April 8th, 2020 Beijing Pearson, the world’s learning company, announced RMB 1 million donation to the China Children and Teenagers’ Fund (CCTF). The donation is dedicated to offer education and life support to the children whose parents have either lost their lives, infected by the virus, or made outstanding contributions as medical workers fighting COVID-19.

Mr. Joe Lam, Managing Director of Pearson Greater China and India said: "We are deeply touched that in battling against COVID-19, more than 3,000 frontline medical staffs have been infected, among which dozens had lost their precious lives. Being a world learning company with over a hundred year history, we always keep learners at the core of what we do in education. We hope to extend our support to the children of the heroic medical workers better getting through the difficult time and enjoying quality education and normal life soonest possible."

Haijing Wang, Deputy Secretary-General of CCTF said, “China Children and Teenagers’ Fund and Pearson are working together to care for the children of medical workers fighting against the pandemic. We will be providing grants for their education and organizing extracurricular activities with aim to effectively solve the practical problems in these children’s education and growth.”

Immediately after the outbreak, in responding to China’s national call for “No suspension of study” during the school closure, Pearson rapidly integrated global resources and launched a variety of online courses and services to meet the different learning needs of schools, teachers, and students during the COVID-19 outbreak. As of now, about 270 schools and kindergartens, and 240,000 teachers and students have been benefited.
